About Me
Suzanne Hernandez was born in Trinidad and Tobago and has called Canada home for more than 35 years. She began her journey as an artist in April 2020 to escape the restlessness brought on by the COVID-19 restrictions. Since then, her colourful and dynamic wildlife, floral, still life, and landscapes in watercolour as well as portraits in graphite have found homes across Canada, the United States and recently South Africa.
Suzanne loves to paint the natural freedom of nature, the organic wilderness and randomness of its forms. She loves vibrant colours and where a subject’s colours are muted, she exchanges them for vibrant oranges, yellows, yellow-greens, reds, pinks and violets.
She is inspired by the colourful works of Impressionist, Monet and contemporary Open Impressionist, Erin Hanson.
Suzanne was born with a disability due to the morning sickness drug Thalidomide given to pregnant women in the late 50s and early 60s.
